My new, slightly used cello.
The cello I bought on eBay arrived this week and it's everything that the seller promised it would be. For a cheap cello (that being under $1000, but even still under $500), it has a very good sound. If Japan has it's own version of Tom Waits, it would be Sion. I've listened to this guy for years, but Jwyl got me thinking about him just a little while ago. If only his CDs weren't all imports... The song title is "If I Have Sake".

Why haven't I been posting
Twitter has proven to be more my speed. It caters to my tendency to not elaborate on anything. So for those of you using Twitter, my account name is skyoxford. Go figure.

Used book stores = my nemesis
I was bad today. I decided to go on a walk for my lunch break and I ended up walking downtown, so I popped into Michaels Books and bought two introductory level books on the cello. They were cheap, and used, but still. I need to stay away from used book stores. It't too hard to just say no ( Read more... ) -

My violin studies, for the most part, are over. I made it a year with lessons and self study, but in the end it's too painful to play. It was always uncomfortable at best, but the longer I played, the more it hurt. I hoped that I would get used to it, and eventually get over it, but I think that a year is enough time to safely say that it's not ( Read more... ) -
Yearly review
I'm two months short of being here a year but my review was finished so my boss decided not to bother waiting.
I did very, very well. On a scale of 1 to 4, my average was 4. When such a time arises (ie, better economy and company growth) they want to put me in a management position. -
