A sacred union between a man and a women. (HAH!)

I am in the process of synthesizing my sources for my long research paper on same-sex marriages. The paper has to be formally written, follow MLA citation format, etc. This rant, however, does not. While my research paper will lay out an argument that supports same-sex marriages, this rant expresses my current fury.

This argument is so dumb. What about all those single moms and single dads? What about orphans? What about children with a widowed mother or a widowered father? What does Romney think about step parents...are they overkill? do they count as parents at all? what about divorced couples?

I know it is hard but keep the anger out of your arguments. Advocate strongly for your goal. Educate friends - for some reason it is easier for many people to accept if it involves people they know and not the assumed pedophiles hiding in the shadows. Lastly, vote well at all levels so the support is there. It is going to be a long race so focus on the finish and not the hills you must climb before winning.

there is no argument against same-sex marriage. there simply isn't. whatever people are saying, what they really mean is that they're ignorant on the subject, confused, afraid, and really just acting on whatever prejudice their parents gave them. and i hate how bush calls legalizing same-sex marriage a threat to an institution that has existed for hundreds of years, because just because it's always been one way doesn't mean that way is right. there has always been war, there has always been religion fucking with things, etc. the simple truth is that legalizing it will change nothing about the fundamental principles of america except people will be able to get married to whoever they want and maybe the country will get a little less conservative ( ... )

Yeah I get what you're saying. It's mostly old straight men who are like "two guys marrying? Two women marrying? That's against the bible, that's stupid." The solution: Don't get married to a guy. Not the solution: Don't allow ANYONE to get married to someone of the same sex ( ... )

I am Catholic, and I say here here.

there are about a dozen other things that I would add/expand upon etc.
but basically, yes, yes and yes.

the fact that there is even a debate over the issue is absurd.
