I've been meaning to write something up like this for quite some time. Mostly copy pasta'd from my myspace page, which I never post at. Weird

I wish I could say I know what you are going through with the race but I look white and pretty much always have but I can tan and it stay somewhat because of the bit of native american in me, but I also felt really out of place within my own family and school because I've pretty much always been the calm person I am and no one I knew really was and it takes me awhile to get comfortable around new people even family and they generally never gave me time to get comfortable. I still really feel out of place with my family because I they are all the same and the opposite of me.
Well when I first really meet people I tend to be shy and not talk to people but after awhile I get more comfortable and start talking to people but generally by then they wander off or something.
It shows enough that you care about it, that you try, that you wish to be a part of it, and that it even bothers you like this. In a way, this makes you a part of "it". I hope you eventually find some solid ground regarding this issue where you are at ease. It must be frustrating, I'm sorry. You know, any help that you need regarding language, traditions, folklore... You can ask me, I'd love to help. Really. I won't know everything and I gather that your family comes from Mexico, right? I'm from Puerto Rico, but I'll try to do my best. I know you don't know where to start, well, I made an entry in Spanish the other day, see what you don't understand from it and I can help.
A "curandero" was kind of a witch doctor. But nowadays, or I guess, not that long ago, it's basically an unlicensed doctor. Not much to say, unless there's a back-story I'm missing...
I guess I was wondering if you knew any of the practices besides the one for mal ojo. I've heard a lot about that one from both my parents, but besides that I don't know that much, and they can't remember too much.

I'll go re-read it, I tried to scan it and didn't understand so much that I just stopped. I probably shouldn't do that.
As for folklore, do you know anything about Curanderos? I was researching that and asking my parents about it the other day.
