yes. the universe is conspiring to have me not graduate in may. also almost got in another accident (someone tried to turn into me).

Can't you get out of it on account of school? That's what my husband did. Worth a shot, anyway, call and check.

this is actually the third time in my life i've been called for jury duty -- i got out of it the other two times because of school, but that was only because i was going to school 6 hours away from home...my commute now ranges from 10 to 30 minutes (depending on traffic)...

Hey once you identify yourself as a Ph.D. candidate the lawyers will want you out, generally they don't like people who have "too much" education" and ask too many questions... if you have any family in law enforcement they don't like that either. It may be a loss of a morning. I was called to jury duty in Boston, I showed up in the morning and after lunch I was not selected and the jury pool was dismissed.

well, i'm hoping that that will be what happens, but i still have to show up (only illness, death, or an unfinished criminal sentence seem to be the excuses available to me...not sure i want them...)
