So, my Halloween costume came out pretty well... I apparently could've use the extra small top rather than the small, as it was a bit baggy. But for a first sewing project I'm calling it a win!

BUT the sewing machine I'd borrowed from a friend is kind of a bitch to thread and/or use, so I went ahead and ordered a new one.

I LOVE Greek Mythology an embarrassing amount, though the impetus behind the costume was to keep it easy for the gals in my department. Then it became my job to explain who everyone was, and they were ridiculously scandalized by "sister and wife", etc.

It makes me sad that more people don't appreciate Greek myths...

The utter ignorance toward the importance of all mythology (although I'm partial to the Greek variety) pains me to know end. It's studying the building blocks of humanity, society... and people don't give a crap.

YES. I got to serve someone in an English class once, because she tried to play the "gayness has always been wrong" card and I brought out all these Greek/Roman/Egyptian mythological examples of how it was recognized & even celebrated in the ancient world.

People tend to forget, I think, that there was culture before Christianity. Nothing against Christianity, but...hi, yeah there was :)
