well, i agree that a lot is already written for you, but not the scenes, (unless you meant scenery)? anyway, Fan fiction is not on par with regular fiction, original stories and the like. But is does take skill and talent to stay true to a cannon but put your own voice in there (and in this sense I'm talking about GOOD fan fiction, which I know is rare.) Fan fiction can serve many purposes, including practice for a writer and a chance to explore a side of an original story that the original author did not have the time or interest to explore (no I am not talking about horrible slash fics that seriously would pair anything with anything.) But simply a fic about a supporting character that wasn't given much weight in the story, or perhaps just using the universe and putting all of your own characters in with none of the original characters because you like the setting ( ... )
