She was on one side of the wall, crying. Sounds of laughter wafted through.

It was then that she realised she would always be the one on this side of the wall. And she would always cry.

She worried that one day her eyes would be soulless. She worried that they already were.

How did she realise this? Perhaps if she separated the general and the particular into carefully organised piles, she'd see that her wall had large swinging doors, that allowed her to skip through either one, singing a quaint chinese-sounding french lullaby.

And no, her eyes weren't soulless... they never will be for her heart never will be... her worrying gives her away.
