I've officially decided, I HATE the word tolerant and it's other tenses. I think it's a very PC way of saying you don't agree with the way someone lives or what they believe, but you'll put up with it

". Just because the band broke up, doesn't mean they didn't have the right idea. "
That line made me giggle.. But basically, I never looked at the word tolerant that way, and you describing it as such makes realize and agree, 1. acceptance is what people should be giving (and receiving) and 2. that when I use the word tolerance I really do mean acceptance but I just tend to pick the first one over the latter.

haha we were talking on gmail-chat because we're both at our respective workplaces.
but we do tend to im each other in the apartment as well because i'm too fat to get up and trudge over to her room. and she tolerates my fattness.. since really, if she tried to make me lose weight i'd just sit on her <3
I don't want to think that my best friend hopes for TOLERANCE when he tells people he's gay. I WANT HIM TO BE LOVED AND ACCEPTED exactly the way I see him.
amen to that. A few of my friends (or their siblings) have come out to their families over the last few years. Their families are trying to be accepting, but right now they are still tolerating, and that kills to know. Sometimes I feel like if even your parents can't be accepting, what hope is there for the rest of the world? But at least they're working on it. I think that might be the best we can ask for right now - for people to put an effort towards being accepting. Which sucks, but that seems to be the world we live in.

it didn't really strike me as bad until AFTER someone used it in referencing to my beliefs in God. Then I got pissed.
