Just the one new character for me this time, and he isn't so much new as he is revamped. And by that I mean "dresses kind of like Dracula now."
The Batman
*A continuation of my Bruce Wayne alum, time-jumped to age 35. He now settles into the gap between the Batman/Superman Adventures and Justice League. So for you DCAU fans, Superman has already been been through the whole "Darkseid brainwashing" thing and more metahumans have appeared, but the formation of the League has yet to happen.
*He's leaving Gotham City in the hands of his sidekicks for a time. He needs to get back to some basics after, well, some unpleasantness, causing him to alien most of them. With the wonky, half-informed, somewhat contradictory information I have to work with, I'm saying that Nightwing left a few months ago after finding out that Batman and Batgirl were together romantically (ACTUAL CANON), and more recently Batgirl left him after realizing that she will never be more than a VERY distant number two on his list of priorities. Tim Drake is still Robin and has not been put through the events that end his career. God, I love Batman Beyond for giving me this much to work with.
*It is important to note that the teacher I'm playing now IS NOT BRUCE WAYNE. This is The Batman. Unless your name is "Clark Kent," he's not answering to "Bruce." I have plans for Bruce in the near future, of course.
*6'-3" tall, appears even bigger thanks to thick soled boots and tall, pointy bat ears on his cowl. Generally drapes his cape over his shoulders in such a way that you can barely see the costume underneath.
*Batman is one of the most skilled fighters you could imagine. Master of several martial arts, skills refined from years of fighting every single night, total cheater who uses gadgets whenever necessary. A fight with him will test you to your limits.
*Speaking of gadgets, he keeps a lot of useful things in his utility belt. Most of it is batarangs, many of which explode. He also has electrified knuckles (for fist fights with heavy hitters), bolas, smoke and explosive pellets, etc etc etc. He also keeps some useful things like a shard of Kryptonite. Or, since Fandom tends toward the supernatural, silver and holy water. The man is PREPARED. All this, plus his trusty grapple!
*He is moody and doesn't smile much. His sense of humor is the deadest of pans and kind of dark. He will not be the best conversationalist.
*And yet, he'll be showing up at the bars or diners or wherever else, in full costume, making his presence known. Because that's funny to me. How far can I push that until he's a The Tick character? I plan to find out!
*If your character knows that Bruce is Batman, then that's fair game... But they should know to call him Batman and if they don't, they will learn to. If your character is a telepath, please note that Batman has trained extensively to resist mind-reading, and that he doesn't think of himself as Bruce. In his mind, he calls himself "Batman." AGAIN, ACTUAL CANON. I love Batman Beyond. Anyway, point is, you're not figuring out who he is with a surface scan. You'll have to really get in there.
*Batman is extremely observant. If your narrative gives some color about how your character reacts to something or looks, Batman will probably pick up on it. Like if you note that they shifted uncomfortably during a lie, he's going to peg it as a lie and probably call them out on it. I've been doing this kind of thing with Bruce forever, so you know that I'm not going to get ridiculous with it. He's just better at it now.
The Pun-Man, Nick
*Architect in Chicago, so Central Time Zone represent.
*Also, I'm not really available for anything except the occasional e-mail during work hours. I'm usually around circa 7PM-11:30PM Central on weekdays, and I may be spotty to a degree, but I'm at least partially around most weekend days.
*I pun a lot. Also, Batman is my hero and Spider-Man is my BFF. Big surprise who I've ended up playing.
*I just got an iPad mini and I love it a lot.
*I do not give a lot of useful personal information in these things, I know.
