All right, guys, now I want to make one thing clear. I want you to have fun at prom -- it's gonna be a fun time for everyone. Except for me, since I'll be seeing you there. [ It's said as an obvious dead-pan joke and he continues seamlessly. ] So, here's what I'm gonna do. I'll cut you some slack on the research paper -- one more week. But, ( Read more... )

[Look, Jeremy and Elena seem to be missing a LOT of school for some reason or another. She's just there to listen to someone tell her that even though they have good grades that their attendance records will be looked at when applying to colleges.

Jenna thinks it's slightly laughable, because she knows that colleges don't really care.

Also, she's lingering in the doorway or this particular history classroom.]

[ He waits for the students to filter out before he moves to get off his desk and go talk to her, offering up a tired kind of smile. ]

Please tell me this is a social visit and that I didn't burn Jeremy's jackass file for nothing. [ Of course, Jenna can't know that he gets the rationale for Jeremy and Elena missing school, but he's very aware of the fact that they are. He can only hope that the administration isn't making a big deal of it. ]

[She laughs a bit.]

Social call. I was just [her hand gestures over her shoulder, back toward the hallway] talking with a guidance counselor about their attendance. [She shakes her head]

It's nothing probably.

I wouldn't worry about it. Kids are kids, and they're the good ones. Their grades are fine, and that's where it counts.

Why would it be a long summer? You'd just give whoever didn't turn it in yet an F.

Because students who get an F in my class will be retaking it with someone else over the summer. It may not be Mr. Tanner, but I can promise you that whoever does pick the course up will be a lot less easy on you guys than I am.

What were we all supposed to be researching again? Refresh my memory.

[Nathan is approaching you. Most teachers would cringe because everything that's about to come out of his mouth will probably be a) retarded as shit, b) obscene or c) both.]

[ A short stare. He sits back in the chair behind his desk, just bewildered by Nathan's dumb life. ]

History, Nathan.

Good, because I've written this bang-up paper about the history of gonorrhea. Diagrams and all.

Save the diagrams -- they won't increase your page count. I know the tricks, and I'm not counting graphs.

[And in walks this super tall runway model of a woman. Reading off a piece of paper.]

Mr. ... Saltzman? [She looks up and sees Alaric, and looks disappointed.] Oh great. I missed him, didn't I?

[ His mood deflates a little at that. Oh, come on. ]

Uh, no. That's me -- call me Ric. And you are ... ? [ Did he schedule a parent meeting? She can't seriously be a student here ... ]

[Looks at him flatly] You can't be a teacher. You're hot.

[ He stares for a brief moment, then laughs a little awkward. ]

Well, uh ... thank you? But, I am. I've been at West High for a few months now.
