Well, the outfit was a downgrade, but he'd deal. Didn't stop her from looking ten kinds of smoking hot. A wily smile twisted his lips and he couldn't resist taunting her for just a second.
"Decided to come after all," He moved out of the doorway with the door as he opened it further, stepping aside to let her in. "Guess, as it turns out, you did have some faith in us. Shoulda known it was in there beneath all that tough chick attitude."

She examined the hotel room, shamelessly sizing it up the same way he'd looked at her, hands on her hips.
"Doesn't look like you're planning to settle in any time soon."

"Reporters," she repeated flatly, trying to stifle her own sense of surprise by just sounding skeptical. Ok, she was a little skeptical. He didn't really strike her as the type. She wasn't sure what 'the type' was anymore, since she'd never consider herself to be 'it' until she was knee-deep, but...
"So what's the story?" she asked casually, though she knew he'd evade it. If he was a reporter, he'd want to keep from being scooped - and if he wasn't, he'd managed to outmaneuver her with a cover that would give him a reason to keep his business close to his chest, without looking suspicious.
Dammit.
"I'm going to guess... The Sun style alien abductions are your usual forte."

Who, come to think of it, didn't seem all that strange.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't watching where I was -- " She finally got a good look at him and scrutinized, a lapse of hesitation making its way into her words. " … going. Hey, don't I know you?" As in, 'didn't I just see you in jail with my cousin?' All things considered, subtle and not necessarily accusatory seemed like the better way to go about interrogating her cousin's new pal.

"Oh, um." His levels of eloquence skyrocketed quickly. "I don't... know. I mean, do you?" He pulled at his collar nervously, glancing around before looking back at her and forcing a tight smile.

"Yeah. I do. You're just a little harder to recognize without the figurative orange jumpsuit." She looked more interested in how he got out than getting him put back in, at least. Her eyes fell to the suit and then the opened laptop, and she couldn't help but let that amused look quirk into a full-blown smirk. "Posted bail and back to work already, huh? Must be important."

He patted his laptop, drawing it mostly closed in the process. "So back to work."
