Dear Ship Swap writer,
Hello! And thank you so much for taking the time to write a story for me. I'm going to write a bit here so that you'll be able to get to know a little more about me and what my likes and dislikes are. That being said, I'll be grateful that you wrote a story just for me no matter what you write.
I guess I should talk a little about my preferences in general before I get to the nitty gritty of each TV show. For my likes, I like things well written. Characters are my big thing, so good characterizations are a must. I'm not fussy about the rating, it can be anyhere from G to NC-17, as long as the characters are treated with respect. I love seeing love shown, in all its aspects. Tenderness is a big thing for me, as well. If you can take two characters and show me how much they care about each other, I'll be satisfied.
Things I don't like...Well, I really don't like awkward "I love yous" put into the story because the author thinks it should go in there. Give me a good show of love over a declaration of love anytime. I don't like character bashing at all, and cruelty is one of my squicks, so please none of that, especially in an exchange that's supposed to be about love. My tastes when it comes to intimate things are pretty vanilla, so if it's anything you have to warn for, I probably would prefer it not be in my fic. Lastly, I really don't like stuff written in present tense, and I don't really like the "five times" style, either. I'd prefer not to get those, but if you do do them, and they're well done, I'll still be satisfied. Those two are more of a personal preference than a "no, no, no, no, do not want".
Okay, now on to individual fandoms.
The Librarians: I love Eve and Jake. I love them separately, and I love them together. They have so much in common, but they also have traits that compliment each other. I've shipped them since that first scene in the bar, and "And the Heart of Darkness" and the finale made my little shipper heart happy (even though Eve ended up with Flynn). I'd love to see a moment of tenderness between them. I'd prefer our universe Eve and Jake, but I'd be happy with alternate universe Eve and Jake if you just don't think you can imagine it in our universe. There's so little about them out there, I'll take what I can get. :)
Love it or List It: Okay, this is strange for me. Most of the time, RPF kind of squicks me, but my brain has been toying with the idea of David and Hilary for months. I think the show is full of sexual tension. To me, there is a definite line between the Hilary and David we see on TV and the one that exists in real life; it's almost as if the ones we see are actually just characters they are playing, and that's the way I view them. Because of this, I'd like to see a fictionalized version or AU version of David and Hilary where nothing in their real real life is used. (Everything on the show can be used, just nothing from their real private lives.) That being said, I'd like something fun, hightlighting their banter and the way they continually play with each other. What I also love about them is that she always playfully insults him, but in the end (no matter how sullen or sulky he is) he's always taking care of her.
due South: Meg and Ray. I love Meg and Ray. They may very well be my real OTP. The two of them are so different, but I think they'd fill each other's needs perfectly. He needs someone to believe in him and she needs someone to help her not take everything so seriously. Plus, she's his type, they are both lonely, and they both want children. I love stories about them that show how much they care about each other. It doesn't matter what the story is about as long as there is a core of caring beneath it. Simple every day things are even better than big showy declarations, and, if you choose this one, I can't wait to see what you write!
The Nanny: No specific requests here. I just would like any story, anywhere in the show timeline, about Niles and CC.
Earth 2: John and Devon are another couple I've loved for a very long time. You know that a couple has made an impression when I'm still thinking of them 21 years after the show was canceled. I would like to see the passion between them explored. I'm all about the passion with those two.
Well, there it is, my thoughts on this year's sign up. Don't stress out too much about my story. I'm sure I'll like anything you write for me. I have faith in you!
