"Beer, if you have it," Tony said. He quirked an eyebrow at the state of Steve's clothing, but turned his snide comment inwards and shrugged his coat off instead. Artists.
He tossed the snowflake-damp article of clothing on the nearest flat surface and took the offered chair, slumping into it. He kicked up his feet and looked around at the apartment. It was just as nice as the packaging advertised, even if the furniture was a bit... dated; the calm slopes of the walls and appliances offered a subtle contrast to what Steve had obviously brought in himself. It was pretty modern, for an old-fashioned guy like Steve.
A framed photograph on the wall caught his eye, being the only thing there. He lingered on it for a half moment, expression unreadable -- then he turned away, back to his host.
He disappeared into the kitchen and came back with two bottles. It took a lot to get Steve drunk, but he appreciated the drinking culture none the less. Like much of his apartment, it was traditional, and comforting.
"Needs more work," Steve said, going over the walls with a critical eye as he sat down across from Tony. "It's got nothing on my old place, believe me."
"Your old place?" Tony said, for the sake of the conversation. He took a bottle and popped the cap with a rough twist. The familiar taste of good alcohol relaxed his limbs, and he looked at Steve with an easy expression. "And what was that like?"
