"Do you have an appointment?" the receptionist said smoothly, as if a shivering madman with a chunk of glowing metal in his chest had not just barged in. "Mr Luthor is a very busy man, and--"
"Mr Stark. I was wondering when you'd show up," said the very busy man, striding out of the elevator on the far end of the lobby, immaculate in a tasteful pinstriped suit and floral tie. "You're late. I did it thirty five minutes ago. Sorry."
The smirk on his face held no trace of apology whatsoever.
Tony turned slowly to regard the man, expression cold. Lex was as much a foreboding presence in person as he was over the television screen, not a single non-existent hair out of place. Lex was almost cheerful as he sauntered towards Stark, his easy elegant stride all too clearly spelling out how infuriatingly relaxed he was.
Tony tried for an easy grin. It came out slightly warped, but recognizable nonetheless, as one of patronizing scorn. "You're right, Lex," he said, positively glacial. "I'm a really, horribly, terribly sore loser. And I don't like being told what I can and can't do."
