I went to the Metalheadz 30th Anniversary show here in NYC. The second I walked in I was so happy hearing all that crunchy metallic noise and bass that I grew up on. When Goldie was ushered through the crowd by security the 14 year old version inside me lost her shit. I didn't stay for his whole set because I was getting tired of drunk 20 year olds slamming into me, but I had a splendid time and appreciated a break from my usual (techno) haunts.
A few days later I went to a Halloween weekend rave at 7 am. I danced with my friend who is in a cast with a broken arm. He said he was dressed as a cyborg. At 10am I saw two guys in cop uniforms walk in. I was like, "Hmmm, wait are those real cops?" They were and the party was over. I haven't seen the cops shut down a party in ages and never during the day time. Hilarious
I took a picture of the starch jelly (still not sure what to call it) but it didn't come out because it was transparent! But if you scroll up a bit you can see my response to siglinde99 where I posted a YouTube video that shows how to make it. They use brown sugar in the video so it looks a bit more colorful, but with icing sugar it's totally transparent, like hair gel.
It's such a bummer when cops come to shut down parties. You'd think they would have realized by now that letting a bunch of kids blow off steam in a warehouse is probably better for the community than leaving them to mope around online going loco or getting wasted on street corners. Sometimes the problem is noise complaints, which fair enough for overnight parties, but in the day time? Weak.
