Well my grandfather died last night. It has been a long time coming. His deterioration over the past 2 years has been extremely difficult to watch, and really hard on my 90-year old grandmother. All I know is that, after his ongoing struggles in the hospital/nursing home/hospice, it is a relief that he is finally at rest and at peace.

I'm in Houston right now, but if you need to talk to someone in the wee hours of the morning, you have my cellphone number.

*fierce hugs*

Thanks all for the kind words. I am doing okay. It's all very very sad, but we will all be okay. It's funny that my grandma is 90 years old, and I've never heard her cry until last night. It's also funny that of all my grandparents, she, the oldest and most frail, outlived them all.

Grandma says that she now simply wants to stay alive long enough to make sure that Bush doesn't get re-elected. Then she can die "a happy woman". Funny.

I'm sorry to hear that. I lost my grandfather two years ago and remember very much how it feels.
