Pairing Gibbs/DiNozzo
Summary: Gibbs and DiNozzo meet up again after a few years apart
Disclaimer: I don't own a thing especially when it comes to these two. And it's a good thing.
Warning: The plot is blatantly stolen from "Same Old Lang Syne"

Gibbs dodged the large flakes that fell from the sky. He just needed a couple of things from the store and then he would be on his way home.

As he pondered the frozen vegetables, an unmistakable laugh sounded down the aisle and he stopped dead in his tracks. An uncontrolled shiver wracked him at the sound. “After all these years…”

He stole behind the man, his voice low, “DiNozzo!”

Tony jumped, spun around and dropped the items he had been holding. Gibbs laughed causing Tony to laugh as well while sporting his famous grin. “Gibbs!” He pulled the man into an unexpected hug. “It’s so good to see you!”

They broke apart as quickly as they came together and Gibbs gave a half smile. “Good to see you too, Tony. You’re looking good.”

Tony’s cheeks tinged pink, “Thanks. You too.” He couldn’t help but giving him the once over. Diverting his train of thought, “How’ve you been?”

“Good, good.” He stared intently into the green eyes he missed so much. “Want to get a drink?”

“Love to!”

They settled on the bar across the street for convenience and took seats in the booth toward the back of the establishment.

When their drinks arrived, Tony took control of the conversation. “So, what have you been up to?”

“Retired about two years ago - it was time,” he said quickly. “Still making toys for the local hospital for the holidays and occasionally consulting on a case or two for NCIS.”

He watched as emotions briefly flickered over Tony’s face. Had he been anyone else, it might have gone unnoticed - but he wasn’t just anyone.

“How’re things with you? Been following your following your career. Seems you are doing well. I’m happy for you.” He swallowed. “Proud of you.”

Tony blushed again, “Thanks. It’s been a wild ride. Fun for the most part but the traveling gets to me occasionally. Sometimes I just want to be home.”

Gibbs nodded and looked away for a moment. He wanted him home too but he knew that what Tony was doing was bigger than both of them. And for that reason alone, he let him go.

“But I’ve seen some incredible things that I wouldn’t have otherwise. Met some fantastic people.” His silent wish that Gibbs had been with him echoed in his head and reverberated throughout the bar.

The server came up to the table, “Last call, gentlemen. We are closing early for the holiday. Can I get you another round?”

“No, but thanks.” Gibbs handed her enough cash for their tab and a generous tip.

He held up his glass to Tony, “To many more years of success”.

Tony tapped his glass to Gibbs’ and they both swallowed the rest of their drink.

Gibbs walked Tony to his car. “It was great to see you again.” He held his hand out and Tony gripped it pulling him close. Wrapping his other arm around him, he kissed him with everything he had. Before he moved back, he whispered in his ear, “I will always love you, Leroy Jethro Gibbs.”

Gibbs favored him with a weak half smile and turned away.

He got into his truck, started it up but sat there as the cold air from the vent washed over him never noticing that the snow had turned into rain.
