Road trip for a heart.
"I am coming with you"
He heard Luke saying that before he moved past him to the driver seat. He just turned to walk to his car after he put one hard kiss on Luke after he casually said he loved him.
"Wait, what now. I am sure I don't need your help being polite to the idiots who will not let us have the heart for Chris." Reid did not now what to make of Luke his request to come along with him to the hospital that was refusing to give up the heart for Chris.
Luke pulled the keys out of his hands. "I know the roads here. Better than you do. And you can yell at them on the road trough the phone, while I am driving. Now get in we don't have time to waste".
Reid rushed over to the passenger seat. "Thank you. Great idea". He said to Luke. He saw the big grin forming on Luke his face, just before the hospital took his call. That man did not get enough compliments in his life.
"Hello this is doctor Reid Oliver. I need to talk your Chief of staff. Right now. Please". He looked at Luke trying to see if he noticed him being polite. No such luck. Luke was very concentrated on the Road and making sure he was going as fast as he could.
When Luke was forced to stop the car in front of a rail way crossing Reid finally got the Chief of staff on board. With treats of lawyers, promising help by his own skilled hands and the future promise of some left over interior from the old neurology wing. And finally the deal was done.
Reid hang up saying "The heart will be send out to Oakdale with the hospital's own emergency helicopter."
Luke turned to face Reid for a second and then quickly parked the car next to the road. "Great job. I can't believe you got that heart so quickly. How did you get them to agree to give you the heart for Chris."
"I learned from the best." Reid shrugged. "I just pulled a Luke Snyder. First I blackmailed them with a lot of lawyers. Then I used my charm and helpfulness to make them see me as reasonable. After all of that I made them very happy with the promise of great material for their hospital."
"I never apologized for the way I got you here." Luke said with a soft voice. "Please know that I would not ask for help like that again. Not to you or anyone else. I am sorry Reid". Luke put his hand on Reid his hand and just looked at their connection.
Reid let out a laugh. "You had to focus on the first part. The last part was making them happy. As you made me. And I do know about you helping out my former Chief of staff. Both financially and with finding a neurosurgeon to help in my absence, after getting stuck in Oakdale. Even at your worst you are still a decent man. And by now I am very happy that you got me here. And I don't care how you did it anymore."
"Well lets get back than. Do you want to take the wheel". Luke smiled at him with very cute reddening cheeks.
"Nope. You drive well enough. And I like that you are working for me now. Drive me home Luke." Reid made a point in sliding his chair back and putting his feet on the dashboard. "I know you will keep me safe".
Luke responded with a salute and a "Yes Sir". He drove back to Oakdale. Swift but careful.
He would definitely keep this man safe.
