Or, why I bought a Nook rather than a Kindle, and why I still won't buy a Kindle, and buy books from Amazon about once every eighteen months when I have absolutely no alternative and can't find them anywhere else, and buy hardcovers from local bookstores, and spent most of my money at K'zoo this year at Powell's, and would smash my computer with a mallet rather than self-publish through Amazon.
If I had to rely on Amazon for new books, I think I'd never buy a book again. (Hey, between the library, my own ample collection, and the 'Net, I think I've got a lifetime supply of reading material anyway!)
