Ahmed just left for his visa interview... won't know how it goes for about 4-5 hours, probably. Positive thoughts, prayers, etc. would be greatly appreciated :)
At the end of the interview they tell you whether you are approved or whether they need something further from you (copies of taxes, divorce certificates, etc), so you pretty much know right away if you're approved or not. But after the interview, everyone goes into what's called "Administrative Processing" where they do further security checks, name checks, sometimes home visits, or additional interviews, which can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 years. The average seems to be about 3 months after the interview to get a visa.
