I think one of my credit card payments got lost in the mail. Another payment I sent the same day made it there already, so it's pretty much confirmed. Thankfully I can get the money order replaced and chase is the best company in the world about taking extra charges off my account but, man, this does nothing to quell my postal service anxiety. so true. sadly, there are some currency issues, so i'll have to wait until i return to the states to go back to the safety of online bill pay. canadian banks=canadian dollars=canadian currency checks and money transfers. bastards all up in their own monetary system. they have a whole different credit system too, which is nice if you destroy your american credit i suppose. :)

...and if you have Bank of America, set up an online account (free). Then, you can use their Bill Pay service ... FOR FREE! The way it works is, you put in your info from the credit card, student loan, your rent, ANYTHING: the Payee (Visa, My Apartment Complex, Inc., etc.) and the billing address, and they'll either send your payments electronically or they'll cut and mail a check for you. If you plan your payments out in advance (electronic payments take two days, mailed payments take five ... it's all in the Bill Pay page). With B of A, the Bill Pay service is FREE! You don't even pay postage. And it's easy as hell to use ... the only thing I use my checkbook for anymore is for rent (which I walk next door).

i actually was a bofa customer for a long time and was a big fan of their online bill pay. I still use their online system for my credit card. I had to close my checking acct though because it wasnt accessible from canada. i cant put canadian currency into a bank account that is expecting us currency, and i have to make my us payments payable in us funds, so no canadian banks and hence us fund money orders. its a whole annoying "i live in another country" thing that means I am forced to be canada post's BITCH!

its all much more complicated than i imagined, thus my excitement to come home! wheee! im thinking of sticking with wamu now though...free checking for real! they've allowed me to keep an account open for 6 months with $0.69 in it and havent charged me a dime! that's my kind of bank, let me tell you.
