So yesterday as I was driving to my dentist appointment, I accidentally stopped over the limit line at an intersection with a red-light camera. I saw a flash, so I activated the stupid thing. The thing is, I didn't run the red. So what I'm wondering is, am I going to get a ticket?

You shouldn't get the ticket. They take several pics to check if you actually ran through the intersection or not. Plus, most of the cameras have radar to record how fast you were going. Technically, failing to stop before the limit line at a red-light is an infraction of the CA Vehicle Code. But it's going to depend on how anal the municipality you were in is being about it.

If you get the ticket, there are a couple of steps you can take to try to get it dismissed. Hit me up if that happens.

But as a general tip... in the state of California the driver of the vehicle must be CLEARLY identifiable in the picture in order for a citation to be issued. There's a whole slew of legal reasons for that. But the lesson there is, when in doubt obscure your face. The citation will never be issued.

in addition to george's comments i'm pretty sure that like 90% of the autocameras in LA are disabled right now. might not be the particular one, but considering the odds you're probably ok.

exactly what josh said. the powers that be didn't budget for more film for the cameras iirc. and the presence of cameras & the flash is enough to make people more cautious...

and what g said too.
