If I'm blue, let me truly play the clown...

All I can say is that David said to both Chris and Myself ( on seperate occasions) during the audition process for Pippin...that I "could play any of the roles in the show, I deserved a role in the show, and that the only reason he couldn't give it to me was because I was not a Stonehill student", And he told Chris that he really wanted me ( Read more... )

HI darling. I feel terrible that this is happening to you!!! Whether or not I agreed with you being cast in Pippin (and heck, you did a great job and it was wonderful to see you up there) Pippin has nothing to do with a student directed play that CHRIS has full control over the casting of. It is horrible and I am so sorry! I am going to cross my fingers and hope for the best ( ... )

Hmmm I'm sorry that you didn't agree with Pippin, I can understand why someone might not like the idea of it, especially if there were other people who were far better than I, and deserved to be cast. I honestly wish that David had just not cast me, especially if there were other people who didn't get cast and were talented enough to be in the show ( ... )

I think that you being in Chris' scenes is an extra reason why you SHOULD be cast. You see, the way I see it, Pat should know that you are an actress that Chris clearly feels comfortable with using and has tried to use in many different ways. It is only logical that he would want to use you in his play. I mean, were there all these girls he didn't cast in Monotaur knocking down his door sobbing to be a part of it? I just can't believe that this is going to be an issue for you ( ... )

I think that had I been one of the men in Forum, I would have been just as angry at the concept of these other guys coming in and taking roles, especially when noone was informed prior to them being there. I don't know how the guys from Bridgewater ever found out about them being upset about it...But I'm sure they didn't try to purposefully put the outside people down in order to hurt THEM, but more so as a venting thing, because they disagreed with it so much. I think girls go through these type of things more than guys do, because I don't think guys typically "expect" certain parts, and I think that it was just a new experience for them to deal with, because their competition is usually so slim...Whereas women have to battle out so many other women for so few roles with almost every production they audition for. We are used to dealing with competition, though it still doesn't make women any less Bitter. If more girls came into Forum, I think the female cast members would have felt the same as the male. And I think that once ( ... )

is that for real? the student directed play is a completely separate entity. :-( that's bogus. and you WERE in joey's last year, too, which wasn't a problem, so it really doesn't make sense that it would be a problem now...that's ridiculous and sad. :-(

also...i don't go to stonehill either, so rightfully i should be recast, too. (but i didn't go to stonehill last year, either, and there wasn't an issue). :-/

See, here's MY thinking, to me, it makes sense that someone can say " Well she's an alum" (which Pat said after Chris told her that you were in it as well, and needed you in it), And it's logical because you did go to Stonehill and participate in STC for four years, and worked hard and well, and I mean obviously she loves you! So she wouldn't want to not let you be a part of any shows there, that were open casting!! But as I typed in my reply to Shannon, I believe that she does not like me, and is really looking for an excuse. Because if she believes it to be "unethical" to not let students who are attending the school to be ableto participate in the shows here, then technically, regardless of whether or not you're an alumn, you DID participate for four years, so it's like you "had your chance, and now it's the students presently heres turn ( ... )

what makes it all even more baffling is that you have been in chris' directing scenes. so, like shannon had said, you've been there, he's used you as an actress, why would it suddenly be problematic? plus, the auditions were open! and everyone who tried out got cast! so you clearly didn't steal a part from anyone, if that's what the concern is.

actually, what's really more baffling is why there's any issue now, but there was not an issue for jake's women. it JUST doesn't make any sense. and, really, i'll obviously step away from the show if they're not going to let you in it, because it makes even LESS sense for me to be a part of it. (which i sort of wondered about anyway, and was why i wasn't sure i could audition).

I concur- none of it makes sense! I don't think that anyone should have a say in who's in Chris' show except Chris- hopefully it will all work out that way, I am keeping everything crossed.

oh amy this is so unfair! I mean we've had several shows it seems since I got here with people in it who are outside of stonehill. Forum had those two boys from another school, pippin had you, jakes women had you and kacee, a gothic tale had kacee, etc. I mean granted kacee did at one point go to stonehill but I don't see why someone would have such a problem with you. It's true that you were only in the ensemble of pippin, it's not like you had this huge lead, then I would get it, but this is just catty. The only thing I can think of is the person who complained about pippin was one of the people who didn't get into pippin at all because not everyone was cast, but I don't see how that should effect your status for Chris' play. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and I hope you can stay in it because it won't be the same without you!

Thanks Jeanine!!! That means a lot to me...You've always been so supportive!! And I want to be in it with ya'll SO.BAD. First of all it's Chris's own show which he worked so.hard to write, and he is going to be an amazing director, and I loved getting to be in Jakes Women and PIPPIN. And I wonder that if I was cast in the ensemble of this, if she would have just as big a problem. Or if ANYONE would have a problem with it. Oooo well...Chris won't go down without a fight!! HaHa

WHAT?? That is so fucked up. People can be so immature sometimes, whoever this is is probably just trying to fool themselves into thinking that if you weren't cast their untalented ass might have had a chance. PLENTY of colleges have open auditions, which I'm sure you know, loads of Boston schools use professional Boston area actors, and URI does as well. And what about Forum where half the cast wasn't from Stonehill? Anyway, the bottom line is that this has nothing to do with Chris' show, if he wants to cast you he can and no one else should have a say. And I can't imagine Pat telling him otherwise because of one whiny little jerk. In any case I'm sorry :( and let me know if I can help in any ass kicking.

There were three people not from stonehill in the forum cast, Laurie, not half. Just FYI.

I know, I was just exaggerating to show that Amy being one non Stonehill member in Pippin is no big deal and has been done before without complaint.

Hehehe there was a HUGE complaint. In fact, I had to write several bridgewater students appolgy letters because of the "horrible" way that they had been treated when they came to auditions. It was a huge scandal that took me a whole semester to clear up (I was a board member at the time thats why I had to write the letters, etc) Unfortunatly people do tend to speak up when these things happen, however, in this case, I think it would NOT be right to let Amy not be involved with Chris' show. Afterall, this is Chris' choice, not the departments. He should be able to cast whomever he wants- it's not an STC production, its only being hosted by STC and that makes a huge difference. I just keep hoping for the best.
