He's been working away on this house for weeks, and somehow none of us took into account that a five-story Lego mansion, complete with front and back yards and a garage might not be ( Read more... )

1. You're welcome! Your first birthday celebration in the new house! :)
2. I ended up finding a huge unopened box of decorations I bought myself at Christmas. I cut one side off, laid it flat, and taped it all up so it would hold together. We got the house to school in one piece, which I found miraculous.
3. It was fun. But exhausting!
4. Yes, it's about time I started feeling gung-ho again...

Yeah, it feels great. I worry when I get in writing funks, as if the bad mood will never lift. I still have some anxiety about the fate of my book (you might have heard, my editor left), but I have to just concentrate on getting the book finished and doing the best job I can.

I hope the Lego house was reparable. Your poor son.

And bonne chance on your spy novel. Ooh -- spy novels sound like fun!

Oh, sorry, Kelly, I should have mentioned that it didn't break! Thank goodness. I had teary eyes to deal with as it was, just because we couldn't think of a way to transport it. Eventually, I rigged up a box that was large enough and with the help of his 8th-grade sister the Lego house reached his classroom.

Thanks for the good luck on my book!

Storybook has changed a lot in the last few years. It was completely renovated and now has a huge pirate-themed play area at the back. My kids go there in the winter, to use the winding outdoor skating track in the front of the park. They said you can step off the ice onto a rubber pad to watch the seals, swimming in their tank, which I thought was pretty neat.
