This post a place for me to keep track of the books I read in 2019. Feel free to skip this post, or you can share book recommendations, talk about your reading goals for this year or anything book-related.

My goal last year was to read 100 books, which I achieved. I read 128 books in 2018. Not too shabby, considering I hit a loooong reading slump ( Read more... )

Thank you :) Your icon is so cute!

I have! I read the series back whenever the TV show started. Ended up quitting the show, but I really loved the books.

Thank you!

I am utterly enthralled by both incarnations.

How about... The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out A Window and Disappeared?

So many wonderful gifs! ♥♥♥

Congratulations on being the undisputed Queen of books and absolutely smashing your reading challenge.

I've just been stalking your 2018 reads for inspiration and I have a feeling it will come in very handy. Btw, I noticed you read "And Then There Was None" by Agatha Christie last year. I actually have that in my Amazon basket atm because I watched a couple of Agatha Christie adaptions over Christmas (including the BBC adaption of the ABC Murders with Rupert Grint & John Malkovich) and now I feel in the mood for a bit of old fashioned crime. And I'm really enjoying the Twelve Clues of Christmas so far although I'm not quite sure why I started with book 6 before I'd read any of the others.

My favourite book this year was The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell but I also really liked The Painted Bridge by Wendy Wallace and despite a not very interesting main character Strange Practice by Vivian Shaw too. Oh, and have you ever read "The Witch's Boy" by Michael Gruber? I think it's a good read, especially ( ... )

I loved And Then There Were None sooo much! I'd never really paid any attention to Agatha Christie but there was a show called "The Great American Read" on over the summer and that was one of the Top 100 books on the list & they kept making it sound SO GOOD. Plus, I got on a mystery kick because of reading the Flavia de Luce & Her Royal Spyness series. I ran across a free recording of the ATTWN audiobook (narrated by Dan Stevens, he was terrific) and was surprised that I could keep up with the mystery listening to it. But I definitely plan on buying a physical copy and reading it. And I want to see the BBC adaptation of ATTWN like NOW.

I think you'll be more than fine by jumping in the Her Royal Spyness series at book 6. The author has a habit of retelling and retelling and retelling and repeating lol the main points you need to know about Georgie's world so I could see jumping in at anytime and being able to keep up.

I think I have The Silent Companions on my TBR, I'll have to check. I had The Painted Bridge at one time but it ( ... )

I've wanted to read some Agatha Christie for years but was worried that they'd be too dry or just too complicated for me. I think I'm gonna start with And Then There Were None and see how that goes. I did record the BBC adaption of it the Christmas before last (I think) but it somehow got deleted from the Sky planner (🤔) before I had the chance to watch it ( ... )

I felt the same way about Agatha Christie as you did, and I didn't find And Then There Were None dry at all. I downloaded Murder on the Orient Express, just need to find time to listen to it. (I got the one narrated by Dan Stevens, there's a newer version read by Kenneth Branaugh but I didn't know if I could handle Gilderoy Lockhart reading me a book lol.)

The only book in the Royal Spyness series I didn't care for was Royal Blood, which I think is #4. Georgie was just so unbearably stupid in that one, I was like "I'm supposed to believe THIS nitwit could solve a murder?!?". But they're breezy in fun, with a few annoyances (my #1 is everyone being so focused on whether she's lost her virginity yet...like, it was funny the first time, but I'm gonna roll my eyes the 117th time someone asks or pities her over it).

Oh, I sobbed reading Tomorrow but it was in a good way. SO PRECIOUS. I mean, there are 2 not-good events but everything works out in the end, trust me. And there's a big reveal at the end which is so perfect I'm tearing up ( ... )
