Deconstructing Magical Girl anime? Yes please!

Unfortunately this is not a promise of a regular update schedule, as I am failing at keeping the few commitments I have already. But I was so excited by this show I had to drop a line here.

My only real criticism of the show was that the music was both odd and repetitively used. I didn't like the justification for the existence of the Magical Girls, but everything came together so well by the end that I didn't mind. That ending... Hoo ha, great stuff.

What really enthused me was the idea of a Magical Girl Universe, full of these kids having their own identities and adventures. We've already seen superhero communities, let's expand the idea to other "super" genres.

I've started on Princess Tutu, which is basically magical girl anime with a ballet twist. My husband swore I would like it, and in fact it's much more engaging when I see it in order than when I caught snatches of it on television years ago.
