The Road to ... Understanding (Chapter 2, Part 5)

The final part of Chapter Two ... finally! I've already written bits of Ch3 and Ch4, so they should come a bit more quickly now.

When the Doctor awakes and joins the Master in the console room, there is a feeling of morning, even though there is no time, as such. Both could be forgiven for awkwardness, even for anger - it has been such a long time ( Read more... )

Yeah, I thought that too. I have this theory that he didn't *actually* run away from the Vortex, and the Master also wasn't driven mad by it. I think they were both *inspired*.

I wanted to put a little Author's Note with this, saying that I'm really, really not trying to be *fluffy* with this. It might seem that way given all the anger and resentment I'd originally written, in the prologue and the first chapter. I wanted to show how things would change between them, over time, and with the things that have happened in the story, but I don't know if the writing's good or detailed enough to show that.

Anyway, I really hope it's not fluffy. I love fluffy, in the right place, but that's not here. The new tone of the relationship will be clearer in the next chapter, I hope.

Glad people are enjoying it. The whole community seems to have gone very quiet ... o_o

I've just caught up on the last three chapters and I have to say: they are wonderful!

You're not just a brilliant fanfic writter but you're a brilliant writter, full stop.

I love the way you've gotten into the psychology of both characters and THANK YOU so much for exploring the 'call to war'/'running away from war thing...I was always curious about that.

Can't wait to read more.

Thank you! You're very kind. I love writing. One day I hope to pack in my incredibly frustrating day-to-day life and just write all day!

The "call to war" thing never really rang true. It might be something more sinister (a call to destroy, maybe?) but I'm hoping it's something else.

Which will be worked out in Chapters 3 and 4.

Thanks again.
