I was so bloody relieved to have finished this fic, but now I feel a little sad. I guess everyone feels like that when they finish a piece they sweated blood to write ...?
Not to worry. Lots more ideas, but work resumes on Monday. Yeuch.
Thanks again.

The last line just popped into my head. But I decided to stop writing as soon as I wrote that line, because it was really all I wanted to say.
The only thing I'm swearing NOT to do is to write any sequels to this. I worked out the answer to the question in my head, and I'm happy with it. Also, I think we would hit plausibility problems. Bigger plausibility problems, anyway.
Lovely comments make me write more! I may go and do some writing now. I drove 400 miles and sat through the worst football match EVER today, in the freezing cold. And dropped hot coffee all over myself. All I can see when I close my eyes is headlights. So I'm not sleeping anytime soon ...
Thanks again!

Thanks for reading the whole thing, and waiting the better part of six months for the ending! I swear, you can grow vegetables in less time than it takes me to finish a story.
Started another last night, but I don't want to start posting it until it's pretty much finished. See, I do learn from these things!

You know, I was going to write a couple of fluffy, cracky pieces to give myself a break after this, but I started, and ... I can't write crack. I stink at it. It's terrible. The idea's there, but the tone's just far too serious.
So I started writing my next 'long' story, which I swore I wasn't going to do. And that's actually going quite well, so stay tuned.
Thanks again.
