Mythical Simplicity (Epilogue)

An Epilogue, Or Is It A Bridge?

If anyone had peered through the dusty window, they would have seen two men lying, unconscious, on the rough stone floor. They would have seen the taller man with the unruly brown hair sit up, slowly, touching his arms and his face, as though it had been a while since he’d felt them. Then they would have seen him ( Read more... )

Oh, I knew it! I knew it! As soon as I reached "wicked smile" it all clicked into place. And I love it!

I am grinning and bouncing like a loony at the thought of the sequel! I can't wait!

Thanks!

Yeah, the whole time I was posting the story, I was dreading someone guessing the "ending." I was trying to drop hints without being obvious.

This was one of the two key ideas the whole series was based around. I hope the sequel's going to live up to it.

More tomorrow, hopefully.

Oh jebus! Dunno about anyone else, but to me that ending kinda came out of nowhere. Oh man. More, please! This is such brilliant stuff.

Well, I guess you are a genius. Or possibly psychic.

Or we're just on the same wavelength.

The first chapter should be up later today.

Are Time Lord's really allowed to be that stubid?
Nice and unexpected twist, but as the end for this wonderful fic I can't say it makes me happy. Though it offers a lot of possibilities...

Well, if it helps, it's technically not the end.

Not sure what you meant about them being stupid ... he doesn't realise at first because he's dizzy from the chameleon arch. And the Master's bound to think it's brilliant.

Just curious (I'm really, honestly, not being defensive - I wrote several endings for this, and thought this one was the best), what sort of ending did you envisage? Obviously, they couldn't stay as Harry and John forever, but on some level they have to deal with what happened while they were human, yes? The only logical, in-character thing that could happen was that the Master would be horrified and pissed as hell, which basically puts them a bit behind square one. This way averts that for a little while, and shifts the focus a bit.

But the "human hangover" still has to be dealt with, and that is coming up in the sequel. Like I say, it's really not the end ...

Them being stupid meant accidentially switching watches. I don't think it would be possible anyway but that's what fanfiction is for.

I had not imagined any kind of ending, but I just don't like the idea of the Master running around in the Doctor's body very much. At least if that had been the end of it. But as you said there will be more I'm curious to see where you'll take that idea.

Oh, okay. See what you mean now.

If it helps, it was humans who opened the wrong watches, not Time Lords. And we can be very stupid.

I went over a couple of the alternative endings I wrote and one was so very sad, I couldn't bring myself to use it.

The idea of the Master in the Doctor's body is very uncomfortable, but of course, it can't possibly last. And the Doctor has to find a way to stop him, while "wearing" a body that everyone thinks is dead, and a mass-murdering psychotic criminal.

Thanks for replying, it's interesting to talk about. Next chapter tonight.
