On Washington Square Park: Are they doing that whole "let's move everything around so it's perfectly lined up" thing? I remember there being some debate about that a while ago but didn't think it'd actually make it past the silly proposal stage. I think it's kind of weird that there's a park there at all seeing how it was a pauper's grave for cholera victims for a decade but whatever, like you said, new york city has no respect for its history.

hmm, in my experience, "I don't want to hurt you" has generally meant "I don't want your reaction to make ME feel bad or guilty... I fucking know it's going to hurt you, but keep that to yourself please". I'm kind of cynical about that stuff though, so take my opinion with a cynical grain of salt.
