but group attacking a mentally handicapped person is fucking sad.

Although annoying, try to put yourself in her shoes for just a minute.
I wouldn't wish that on anyone :(

P.S. - Just to clarify, this is in regards to a specific situation that I've seen very recentely on the chamberatlanta LJ community.

I would like to clarify something with you....
I WOULD HAVE NEVER STARTED ANYTHING HAD I KNOWN THAT THIS PERSON WAS NOT IN A POSITION TO DEFEND THEMSELVES...
It is not as if I had met this person, realized their handicap, and proceeded to degrade and debase them.
I cannot qualify my actions now...I feel horrible for what I did.
I would like to believe that no one involved would have participated had we known what has been brought to light now.
I KNOW I wouldn't have.

I remember her ~ she seemed to be a sweet girl...a bit overwhelming to deal with at times but sweet nonetheless. Poor girl. Heheh ~ I think she had a crush on my husband =)

Yeah, I only saw her once or twice.
I will admit that she was kinda annoying from what I remember but I never thought that was a very good reason for people to be mean to her, especially in her condition.

I never saw the rest of the attack. I had the same "...what the hell?" response to her initial posting that everyone else did, but I haven't seen any of what transpired since then.

For the record, it never occurred to me that she might have been disabled, either. I thought she just didn't speak english very well.

I'm not sure I even want to know what may or may not have gotten said to her. But as always I appreciate you standing up for what you believe in, even when it's your friends you're standing up to.

After skimming her post and seeing her icon, I recognized her.
Her post was completely harmless, I don't understand why people felt the need to take time to respond unless she was specifically talking to them.
I don't mean to sound like I'm a better person than anyone else, but the whole thing really pissed me off and I wanted to say something about it.
It's a little more understandable now seeing that most people didn't know she was handicapped but I thought that was pretty obvious.
