Although annoying, try to put yourself in her shoes for just a minute.
I wouldn't wish that on anyone :(

P.S. - Just to clarify, this is in regards to a specific situation that I've seen very recentely on the chamberatlanta LJ community.

Yea, what's sad is people look for the easy prey. It's the whole Jerry Springer syndrome. Let's rag on the easiest victim we can, to distract ourselves from how pathetic we are. It's sad. Glad to see you made a comment on it.

Met you last night... errr... this morning at Convent. You introduced me to the delight of the Hong Kong Phooey, a must for anyone who wants to liven up their Bloody Mary experience. I added you as you requested and would appreciate it if you returned the favor. I had a blast last night and like the idea of knowing in advance when an event is planned there. I also need to say that I too commented about the poor girl. Nothing malicious, more a curious 'who is this person who doesn't know our language?' comment. Regardless of what was said, I feel awful knowing everything that went back and forth during the whole nasty exchange. I'm certain none of us would have ever said a thing to her had we realized we were dealing with someone who was not on equal playing ground with the rest of us. Bravo to you for being smart enough to recognize the situation and gutsy enough to enlighten the uninformed. See you soon!

Glad you had a good time too.
Our next party isn't until May 7th, but I'll post about it again before then.

As far as the whole aforementioned crap, I'm glad it's been put to bed for the most part and that people have maybe thought twice about their actions, but I still don't think it's a decent excuse for most of the nastiness.

I thought it apparent that she wasn't all there, and she deffinitely didn't deserve the treatment she got regardless of the fact that she was mentally challenged or not.
