Wow, it really feels like i haven’t written anything all week. But that is a lie, its only been two days.
So yeah, here is my updates. Work up. I missed livejournal a lot. Been to busy and tired to update. So here is my massive one!
.hey mercedes/hidden in plain view/the goodwill/anadivine.
Anadivine: Hm, how can i put it. They started off really strong. Had a nice little jam song to start the set, followed by a full vocal song. Both were really good. Then they started to suck. Greatly. By the time they were at the last song, there timing was AWFUL. Had two or three different times on each of the instruments and together it sounded like pure shit. Kevin and i were disgusted. Could have just been an off night. They were poo.
GRADE: D+
The Goodwill: I liked them, not a lot, but i liked them. There lead singer reminded me a lot of the lead singer from Juliana Theory. Same type of movements. I was told they were a 'pop punk' band. But what i heard was def not pop punk. It was just indie rock. I liked it, i may see them again if i have the chance. Nothing that blew me away tho.
GRADE: C+
Hidden in Plain View: BLAH. New DriveThru band? Oh please. They were nothing speacial at all. I have no idea why DriveThru signed these guys. After Letting Go is 100 million times better then this. If this is what DriveThurs future is going to be like, then they are slowly going down the drain. I mean, they are a good band, i will respect that. But i didn’t like what they played. There breakdowns were weaker then a one year old's arm, vocals were 'ok'. There drummer was really good tho. Very young lookin kid who had the longest arms EVER and when you combine that with his long drum sticks, then damn. I liked his beats and fills. Other than that, i have nothing else really positive to say about them. ATTN DriveThru: You can sign much better bands than this. kthnx.

Hey Mercedes: Gosh, there is really nothing to say. I mean fuck. Hey Mercedes? That’s enough right there. I caught them a while ago at the CatsCradle and they rocked. Now again at Ace's Basement, and they rocked harder. Such a fucking great band. Vocals were hit without flaw last night, and the music was just great. I loved the little movie sound clips in-between each song. Such a great band. And you know, fuck the kids with no respect asking them to play Braid songs. Get with it guys, that band is gone. Other than that, nothing negative to say. They played a two song encore. Word. Seemed they had a great time last night. Hey Mercedes is one hella hot band, likewhoa.

OVERALL GRADE: B-

So cool, get off of work around 5. Come home, get changed, and say hi to dad. And head over to Greensboro. Was an easy ass drive. Lots of cops on the road tho, so i had to watch my speed even more so then I do normally.
Hung around in Allen/Chris's dorm at UNCG for like 30 minutes. Then grouped all of us going to the show (Kevin and two guys from UNCG) and headed over to Ace's Basement.
Got there rather early. Saw the bands. But you read that review already.
Wasn’t able to meet emog33k. Darn. She didn’t have a ride to the show or something. To bad, was lookin forward to meeting her. Next time! <3 and no idea what happened with meeting punkrawkdiva. oh well!
I met __heartbroken first! I was walkin inside the place and this cute girl was like 'Hey your Josh right?' and i was like 'uhhhh yeah?'. I felt stupid and rather rude. I acted like i didn’t know why she knew me at first. Kevin was all 'LJ girl?' lol mannnn i was all shy and stuff, totally not myself! arrrrg. Wanted to have a real conversation with her so i looked around for a bit after the show but wasn’t able to find her. Next time! Where did you run off to? :)
In between Hidden in Plain View and Hey Mercedes i met fcku_thesound outside!!! ahhh! yay! We were finally able to meet and talk in person and such. It was great. Its nice to know people don’t put on an act while being online. She is the same hyper and talkative girl in person as she is online and on the phone haha :) I started to hear Hey Mercedes play and went inside, and they left. Awww i even got a hug! She said i smelled good. woop. Score one for me. hahah
After the show i went back to UNCG campus, got my car and started home. The drive home was not fun. It was like 1AM and i had an hour drive in front of me, and i was sleepy as is. I thought i was gunna fall asleep at the wheel and crash and die. But i made it. Had to slap myself a bunch of times to stay awake. I wont do that shit again. To dangerous. Made it home around 2:15AMish and went to bed.
SO, i went into work today at 9 the fuck o’clock. Damn, didn’t get much sleep last night at all, and had to be at work nice and early. See, at first, i was going to be at work at 2. Then it got changed to 12 cuz i said i could cover for someone. Well then it got changed again. My boss Dan gave me two tickets for the Carolina Hurricanes game that was tonight because of what a great job I have been doing at work. So he changed my hours again so i could make the game. Work wasn’t that bad. Was kept busy all day. Did a 9 to 5er; on a Saturday. Oh man, i can’t wait for my next pay check; its going to be HOT. hahah.
But yeah, i sorta 'just' got back from the game. Well not just, it’s been a while now. But yeah, my first hockey game ever. Was really fun, had some AWESOME seats. Gosh, i can’t remember the last time i went to a sporting event. I am really glad i took the tickets from Dan. We won the game 3-1, tho its going the pre-season. Still great. Watching the game was lots of fun. Id so do it again, who wants to go to a game with me? :)
I am going on a business trip with some other people from OfficeMax. Going to Charlotte for two days. I don’t remember the date. Its going to be a bunch of venders that just talk about there new products and shit. Should be interesting. First trip i will take for OfficeMax. Everything is paid for to. Anything i eat or drink is paid for by OfficeMax. Transportation as well as the place i stay over night is covered. I will also get my hourly pay from the second i step into the car for the three hour drive; get paid while getting trained; and get paid while driving home. Cant get much better than that. I am looking forward to that.
Anyone else going to Friction Fest 5? I changed my mind again and just went ahead and got the three day pass. So i will be spending the weekend of the festival at UNCG. We should hang out :)
