Man, I had no idea where you were going to take me and I'm happy about that. Really enjoyed the way you wrapped Hercules Labors into Castiel's search for his grace and the way that instead of each piece leading him away from humanity and Dean it did the opposite. I love the way so many themes and ideas are used by fans to tell Dean and Castiel's story. Actually, to tell any Supernatural story, there's such a wealth of talent. Loved the illustrations as well and the poem at the beginning. I'd only ever heard the first stanza so now have the rest. Fabulous fantasy for DCBB. Thanks
Thanks do much for reading and commenting! I'm very happy you enjoyed the fic. I'm glad it was a journey - I was worried that the story was going to wind up stale, or I was going to wind up with a lot of overused tropes, so it's nice to hear that it still retained some originality, ha ha.
And I absolutely agree, it's so great seeing how so many different kinds of authors take the same characters and make them their own; I've read so many fics with a premise I never would have thought of, and they've been so great. Being part of a fandom with so much talent makes me proud, ha ha.
And it's very cool you got to read the full poem! :) We covered it in a class I took and I've liked it ever since; it was also inspiring for the fic. ^^
Anyway, thanks again for reading and I really appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Wow, extremely cool story. Cheerfully out there. Great imagery, with the winged Cas-merman and the various forms of the pieces of grace and a lot of other stuff that you really made visually alive. Just buckets of coolness!
Oh gosh thank you so much! :D I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Regardless of whether this is true or not, it's always been my opinion that I'm stronger at dialog than I am at description, like a lot stronger, so I'm incredibly pleased I still managed to make the story visually exciting, with the imagery I used. (I was worried it would fall flat or be hard to imagine or be boring to read or something.)
But I'm super flattered that you liked my story, and "buckets of coolness" is a fantastic compliment. :) Thank you again!
What an unusual fic. I really had so much fun reading this. I loved all the various incarnations of Cas in Dean's dreams - Tigerstiel! And I always love fic that feature the long, slow slide of Dean realizing how much he loves Cas. One of my fave stories is an old Agatha Christie book where Hercule Poirot takes on the labors of Hercules detective style, so it was very fun to read them Supernatural style. Thank you for a lovely fic.
Thanks for reading and thank you so much for taking the time to comment - I appreciate it! Hah, considering the abundance of fic in the SPN fandom, I'm actually pretty gratified mine turned out unusual! XD The long, slow slide kind of fic is my favorite, so that's probably a big reason this turned out that way; and, in terms of storytelling, I thought having the romance peppered in slowly instead of in one, big narrative dump would make the story flow smoother. And also, though I will admit the romance was my key priority here, I didn't want the plot to suffer because of that

Ahh thank you! When I wrote that on the draft, I could actually hear it in Sam's/Jared Padalecki's voice. So I was like "Yeah. Keeping that." :P Thanks for taking the time to comment!
