I went on a family vacation this past week. Joy. It was eventful to say the least. See, the week started out slow. The waves sucked. My immediate younger cousin and I tried to scope out hot guys. We sat around. We went to the beach. We'd go into town or to the Boardwalk. A normal vacation. Then, the 'Incident' happened.
That's right. It gets capital letters. It deserves them. The waves got better in the middle of the week. So, a few of us decided to go out to where they were breaking. My uncle, my older cousin, my immediate younger cousin and I all went out. After a little while, we realized we had drifted a bit, so we were going to go in and move over. But... I couldn't move. On a good day I'm not a very strong swimmer. At all. And this was not a good day. I couldn't get past the current. My uncle looked back and I said, "I can't move." Suddenly, we all realized we couldn't. All except for my older cousin. Nope, Mr. Lifegaurd made it out all right.
Suddenly, I turn around and there's this guy next to me. He asks if I'm okay, and I just nod and say 'I guess'. Then, he grabs me and starts swimming to shore. Turns out he's a 'non-lifegaurd lifegaurd'. My younger cousin got a lifegaurd as well. Then, again suddenly, I'm handed off to someone else. Another lifegaurd. I felt sort of lie a trading card, or something insignificant. We got out and feel exceedingly embarrassed. My uncles and aunt ask if we are all right, which we are. Everything was intact, save for our dignity. I had a pounding headache, for some reason.
When everyone had calmed down, I turned to my older cousin and asked why he didn't help us out, since he's a lifegaurd and all. He said that he was a pool lifegaurd, not a beach lifegaurd, there's different training. I didn't really believe him, but I let it pass.
The next day, my cousin and I got manicures. The one who was also 'rescued' by the lifegaurd's. In all, it was a fun week. Other things happened too, but I can't recall them as of now.
Also, fun fact: The guy who had helped me for the most part was one that I had pointed out to my cousin earlier in the week, saying he had a strange stomache, since it kind of went out and then in. I just found it amusing that he turned out to be the guy who 'saved my life'.
And I got hugged by a jellyfish at some point, before the Incident. I do not recommend it, as it is painful.
Thank you for your time.
