Being Next to you, I no longer needs the words to elaborate the meaning of happiness. I just know that it exists since its steps are printed on every inch of its journey.
Sakurai park his car carefully. Its sunday evening, its quite rare to have an off day in sunday, but he deserve this day off, since he is already done a big project. He wore his mask and hat before he go out from his car. He has promise to come to park near his apartment. Once he see the person he faster his walk.
"Sorry for coming late, Masaki," he says as he sit.
"Its fine, look, Kei is playing catch ball with Wan-chan," Aiba pointed a litle girl who run in the park, a toy poodle follow her.
"Kei-chan! Papa is here!" Aiba shout and make Kei turn her head.
The litle girl beams as she see his father. She run with her litle feet, the toy poodle still follow her. Sakurai rise up, he open his arm and cath his daughter. Once he lift her, he kissed her pinkish cheek.
"Papa miss you, princess," He let her to nuzle in his neck.
Sakurai feel something nudge him from below, he see the dog noozle his leg. Change the way of holding kei, he let his free hand to pat the dog, "I am not forget you, Wan-chan,"
Sakurai back to sit in the bench, Let Kei sit in the lap.
"What are you doing when Papa is away?"
"Kei draw papa!" Masaki laugh beside him, "It cant be that bad, right?"
"Well, she is truly yours, your drawing is exactly the same," Masaki answer.
"Papa cant wait to see it!" Kei bounce in his lap.
Sakurai let his daughter tell him everything, tough most of them is just blabbering. They watch the sun down and the sky becomes dark.
"I think we should go home," Aiba said as he chack the time.
Kei look up, "With papa?"
Sakruai nod, "Lets go?"
Kei hop down and pull Sakurai. They walk fast to the parking lot, behind them, Aiba take the bag and Wan-chan's string, ready to go home.
That night, after they done their dinner and bath, Sakurai read a story for his daughter.
"And then, they life ahppily ever after," Sakurai close the book and see his daughter already sleep peacefully.
He tuck the blanker and kiss Kei's forehead, "Sweet Dream, honey,"
Once he rose from the bed, he see Aiba lean in the door. He walk to him and kiss him right there. After closing their duaghter's room, they go to veranda.
"Dont you miss me?" Sakurai ask as he take the beer from Aiba's hand.
Aiba laugh, "Why i am not missing you? if i am not, i will not cook your favorite meal, you know,"
Sakurai lace their finger, "Thanks for taking care of Kei,"
"Dont be stupid, she is my daughter too, of course ill take care of her,"
They stay silent, enjoy the can of beer in the brizzy night, "I forget to tell you,"
"Hm?"
"Tadaima," Sakuria turn his head so he can see Aiba's face flushed.
Aiba drew closer, he kiss Sakurai's lips, "Okaeri,"
"I am so ready live my life with you, Masaki,"
Aiba smile, "I want to exchange our vow in altar, you know, not in the middle of the night, in veranda, with can of beer, and absolutely sober,"
They laugh together before they go to complete silent.
"You know, i dont need anything else. Not even the explanation of happy or sentence of 'happily ever after'," Sakurai throw his empty can int o the bin.
Aiba still silent and throw his gaze to the night sky.
Sakurai follow Aiba's gaze, "In here, with you, and Kei, is my truly happiness," he added.
"I know. Because its mine too," Aiba says it finally.
