To all of those who feel the need to say "I told you so" to everyone else, get it out of your systems. It's not productive. To those who took the risk, I hope whatever you gained was worth whatever you lost. Losing a hand to regain my buster is a bit ironic, but worth it.

...

Having an enemy I can't see or fight is getting more frustrating.

Your hand?

Sorry. I know pretty well how it feels.

I've dealt with worse. Besides, I expected them to take away more.

You're still taking it well. I could barely think straight after I lost mine.

It came to a surprise to you. I did this knowing they'd likely maim me. That makes a big difference.

Yes yes, heaven forbid we shame the foolish. I'll just go sit in my own corner of woe and guilt with all of my limbs, memories, and abilities intact and think on just how terrible I must be for not playing a poorly thought out hand.

What good will teaching people lessons they've learned themselves do besides feed your own arrogance?

And what lesson, exactly, have they learned? They'll still keep reaching onto the stove regardless of how many times they burn their hands.

The people willing to get burned will be the ones most likely to accomplish something.

...Just what exactly is the point you're trying to make?

I agree that it is not productive, but I also agree with those gloating in that it was foolish of you to take such a risk. Its true nature as a trap was fairly obvious, something that should have been immediately realized by anyone who has been in this town long enough to witness its previous actions.

Sometimes it's necessary to spring an enemy's trap. I made out well--better than I had been anticipating, so I couldn't care less what those think of me taking the risk.

Those who weren't able to foresee the risk or had an exchange that wasn't as lucky as mine are the ones that don't need to be chastised. It's nothing but unproductive conflict.

You are correct, it is entirely unproductive. But you are only propagating this unproductive conflict by speaking out against the already existent clamor.

Maybe you're right about that.

...

I have to wonder if this is the end of it.
