Biographic Note - Carlos Freire - Photographer
Carlos Freire was born in Rio de Janeiro. He lives in Paris, where he started his work as a photographer in 1973. His photographs are in private and public collections.

His books on Naples, text by Cesare de Seta, Alexandrie l'Egyptienne, with Robert SoIe and the monography on his work entitled Tout doit disparaitre text by Alain Jouffroy, were published in Italy by Charta of Milan and in France by editions Stock and editions Hazan. Lumieres de I'Inde text by Charles Moraze and l'Esprit des Lieux text by Lawrence Durrell were published in France sponsored by Thomson and AGF. His rare photos on the french poet and calligraph of chinese origin, Francois Cheng are in the book of chinese calligraphy published by Editions Sophie de Sivry, Paris. Cheng has been elected to the Academie Francaise recently.
Carlos Freire's last book, Mount Athos, text by Jacques Lacarriere, was published in march 2002 at editions de l'imprimerie nationale.
Aleppo, album of the legendary and ancient city, texts of the poet Adonis, photographs by Carlos Freire, is due to publication at editions de l'Imprimerie nationale in Paris in 2004.
