General Chatter & Social Media Assistance

Hey there!

Hope that the new year is treating you all well. I am currently still without a full-time gig. My search for even a remotely okay job within a reasonable commuting distance is not working out, obviously. I fear that I will have to suck it up and start widening the net to include the NYC and Philly Metro areas. I LOVE NYC and am indifferent to Philly, but that is as someone only goes to either on my terms. Realistically, we know the day-to-day commute would be a killer. My body barely survived the day-to-day just to a job at the fringe of the NYC Metro area. See my concern?

To get by with bills & keep myself out of trouble (idle hands), I have been doing freelance work and exploring other career paths. Most of the freelance work that I have been doing is shop drawings for custom cabinetry and web page design, primarily using a CMS called Drupal. I definitely recommend Drupal to and of the techies on my friends list. Anyway, am not getting enough of the work and it doesn't really 'grab' me, you know?

As for the 'exploring other career paths' stuff, originally, I was only looking to become an independent architectural/interior designer or get steady webpage work. In 2010, in addition to the health challenges I encountered, I have had opportunities come across my path that would never have occurred to me. Some have turned out to be a bust, others are in limbo, & yet others are not fully formed. Nevertheless, all of those experiences have forced me to think outside the box in terms of career options. Oddly, my work with the event-company-that-shall-not-be-named had a bit to do with my broadening horizons. Who knew? That is a story for another day...

Well, I could go on with the general chatter for ages so let's quit while we are ahead. On to the Social Media Assistance part of this post. I am working with a friend to get his photography business more exposure. I helped my friend set up a few social media sites sometime last year, but we never really did figure out what we really wanted to do with them.

I have a favor to ask - if you use Facebook, could you 'like' the following pages, please?

Also, if you could suggest the pages to friends?
