I am currently having the pleasure of creating (or re-creating) a costume for one of my loyal clients. It’s a somewhat faithful reproduction of a circa 1950’s belly dance costume worn by a famous personality, not a dancer. Buwhuh? Oo-er... Clearly these are not Egyptian-style dancers? Because I'm accustomed to paying anywhere between $800 - $1100 CDN for a cossie, without batting an eyelash. A good Egyptian cossie does have a lot of handwork and a tonne of glass beads.
