I was thinking about Transformers and it occured to me that it was a different time when "Robots" were still cool and nobody knew what a "Mecha" was.

(that being said, I'm not nearly as excited about the upcoming transformers movie as everyone else seems to be.)

eh. whatever. I went from transformers to robotech and never looked back.

From everything that I've read, thes guys doing this movie are trying hard to bring the G1 and the newer stuff to the big screen the best they can. The thing that so many people don't understand is that the only reason you don't see any G1 stuff out there these days is because the original owners of said names and art are either lost to time or in extreme debate over who has the rights to them. That is why you can see some familiar names, but not familiar designs, and vice-versa.

I'm really excited by the movie simply bcause they will be doing something that I have wanted to see since I saw "them" make a robot walk across the screen in The Terminator, except now they have a whole hell of a lot more money to burn on CGI.

Sure, some things will be quite different, at the same time I understand why it will be.

That all being said, I want to see a live action Robotech movie with some fucking Cyclones damnit.
