but instead, I'm LEAVING TOWN FOREVER

I'm at South Station, waiting for the Acela to come and take me away. Driving here this morning was pretty damned crazy; the conditions were more or less terrible in both Vermont and NH, though everything was fine in Mass. I got to drive back to the rental car place on memory alone, which was fun. Driving in Boston is fun. It feels like you're one ( Read more... )

It's ridiculous to decide to dislike a city that I've only spent a few scattered days in

I've already decided that I dislike the entire east coast, and I've never been near there. Now that's ridiculous.

Heh heh, truly it is. Especially since the East Coast is rockin', in places.

you're not allowed to dislike Boston until you've spent at least 2 days walking around at least Cambridge, Davis Square in Somerville, and at least 3 distinct parts of downtown. driving definitely doesn't count.

i mean, you're allowed, but then i'm allowed to hate BART because afaict they've basically simply decided to not play nice with the Caltrain and then blame the difficulties entirely on the Caltrain people ("you should go tell the Caltrain to run more often" "well, yes, i should, but that doesn't mean i shouldn't also tell you that if you're going to schedule your trains to Millbrae 20 minutes apart and have one of them arrive within 2 minutes of the last Caltrain departure for 2 hours, you should really, please have it arrive 2 minutes before rather than 2 minutes after")

See, the problem there is that travelling on the Penninsula makes everyone ill-tempered.

But, ok, I will not kick and scream if fate brings me to Boston again, and I will check out this "Davis Square in Sommerville". Another thing that's stilly about Boston is how large "downtown" is. Apparently, Boston considers the Hynes convention center / ICA area part of 'downtown'? Boo to that.

Greetings, I see you friended me which is very cool, you can never have too many friends. I was just curious though, we have no friends in common so I was wondering how you stumbled on my journal.

Oh, btw, I spent a week in Boston once and other than the historical aspect, I tend to agree with you on the whole I-don't-like-the-city-very-much thing.

I was browsing friends of friends of friends... I found you through tetetetigi > avehoward. I friended you mostly just to read you, because you seemed intelligent, interesting, and unlike everyone else I know on live journal. I also appreciated your suspicions of the Amish, which intruiged me and which I felt immediate instinctive empathy for.

Ahh yes, Andrew, i'm very fond of him, however if you tell him we'll both deny it. Good enough then, if you can stand my boring posts, welcome aboard.
