We just got airline tickets to travel to CT for a wedding later this month. We'll be flying with Ansel who will be just over 2 months old at that time. Are we insane?

It's easier at 2 months than it will be in a year! LOL!! Go now while you still can. He'll nurse a lot and sleep in your arms. Did you get him a seat for the car seat?

The worst part is changing a diaper on the plane. (bad memories LOL!!!) We flew with Charlotte at 12 weeks old (Christmastime) and it went fine. I was worried about germs, but I Purelled myself a lot. It's less of a concern in the summer time especially if you're nursing.

Good luck!!

That's true- my sister basically said the same thing, that her two year old would be much harder than a two month old. I'm worried about not having the option of using his normal soothing methods (bouncing on the exercise ball and walking him around the house. He knows the difference between exercise ball and all other kinds of bouncing!). I hope the white noise of the airplane is enough for him. And I have to admit that he tends to do really well in new environments and in groups of people, so maybe it won't be so bad.

Yeah, we paid through the nose for an extra seat for him and we'll bring the car seat.

It's very nice to have the extra seat on a cross country flight. If he does by some chance go all the way to sleep, you can put him down then. ;) On flights that are just a couple hours, we wouldn't typically get a seat. Our kids were unlikely to use it at all unless they were sleeping. It's really hard to manage drinks / tray tables with a baby in one hand. (especially when they start kicking & grabbing at stuff!) Having baby in the car seat makes it more manageable. Anyway, it's hard no matter how you slice it at that age, but it's worse as they get older. (11 months = age we took Sam to Europe = *terrible* time to fly with a baby, heh)
