Oh, the poor kitty :( I hope you can find a compassionate vet soon. There are naturopathic vets, too, have you thought about going that route?
When my mom's cat ongoing trouble with peeing, it turned out to be kidney problems. (common in older cats) They eventually got the best of her (she was 12) but she got a lot better after Mom switched her to a prescription "urinary health" formula. Just a thought, I think the poor thing sounds like she is really hurting.
{{hugs}} I am the same way about Dexter. I feel like I neglect him too, but he gets lots of love and probably more attention than he wants. (from the kids)
Good idea. I'll look for a naturopath for her next. The thing is, the jerk vet told us that May did not have a UTI after taking the urine sample. So whatever is going on with that is brand new. Her chronic problem was in the poo department. :(
Dexter has that too as you know probably all too well. We have mostly gotten it under control thanks to no table food. (ETA: but since there aren't things like hot dogs lying around in your house, whatever table food you have is not likely to be a problem for kitty.)
I hope you can find somebody better who can get to the bottom of May's troubles. I hope it is something treatable and that will allow her to have a comfortable life. There's really a lot that can go wrong in the lower GI department, poor kitty.
We thought maybe she was eating the cereal Os that Ansel was dropping around his highchair, but we started being really diligent about picking them up in the hopes we'd see an improvement. Not that Os would be so terrible for a cat, but you know, we were trying all kinds of things in an attempt to get to the bottom of it. But there wasn't any change. I have a feeling she has something internal going on, maybe liver problems or something.
I hate lecturing vets too. (And lecturing dentists, doctors, etc.)
Today is Spider's 12th birthday. I hope when the time comes to take her to a vet, I don't get crap for not taking her in for checkups. I don't take *myself* in for checkups, and I guess I extend this "if it ain't broke don't fix it" philosophy to the cats.
