I think you already know how I feel about PayPal.

However, PP is a business, and they can do what they want to legally. Somewhere in their fine print is probably permission to do this action to those retailers.

However, there are alternatives: about 155 of them

Yeah, businesses do have the right to do business however they see fit, within the law of course. I've stopped using mine, but when I'm ready to start spending money again I'm going to have to look into the 155 alternative services.

Actually, they sorta don't. There's a de facto power here that PayPal has that has legal weight and existence. Just like the government can't censor things on a whim, they've ruled that AT&T for instance, back when it was a monopoly, couldn't refuse phone sex line services, etc. The real problem here is the FBI. Not that PayPal, et al aren't complete ass hammers. But...the problem is, the federal obscenity laws are crap. Paypal is in some legitimate legal jeopardy for being involved in accepting payments to transfer pornography via electronic means across state lines. If the federal law shifts and makes stories about underage sex the same as pictures...all the sudden PayPal's stock takes a massive hit, because they're pervert facilitators. Not right, not good. But...one of the big problems with the internet that we all try to ignore, except that someone gets slammed for doing something on the internet that they made illegal on the telegraph or something and haven't updated the laws since.
