I've made way too many photos, therefore I had to split up my report into two parts. I simply couldn't decide which ones to post..
FedCon was once more a wonderful and hilarious ride through many Sci-Fi universes and I enjoyed it a lot. Met many friends, old and new, among them
ripper_girl,
hai_di and
kerrsmith2306.
And as always I had the feeling that three days were not enough to watch everything I wanted too. Beam me back, Scotty! But I'm so looking forward to FedCon XX next year, which will last four days and - and that's even better - will take place in my hometown! Yay!
This year's guest list was amazing with actors from Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate, Torchwood, Andromeda and Buffy! The only letdown was the new host, Ed Wasser, formerly known as Mr. Morden from Babylon 5, who wasn't able to hold a candle to Marc B. Lee. I found him impolite and rude (telling dirty sex jokes on the Opening and Closing ceremony should be a No Go!), and he obviously wasn't prepared and mixed up names and tv shows. Please bring back Marc for the anniversary con and if that's not possible someone else. Otherwise me and my friends from Trekdinner Düsseldorf will have to arm with rotten tomatoes and stinkin' eggs for the next convention. Seriously! ;o)
Enough babbling.. On to the photos..
The dominant colour at this convention was definitely blue. And here's the first example. The human Tardis! The creativity of fans knows no limits and this was one of the best costumes I've seen. And I don't say this, because she's a member of our Trekdinner.. ;D She took part in the costume contest but didn't win a prize. Boo! ;)
Dr. Horrible also paid a visit. This costume won last year's audience award.
Back to the people in blue.. For the first time several Na'vi graced the con. Here you can see the world champion bodypainter Enrico Lein creating a Na'vi.
Done. There you go..
Sometimes even Na'vi need glasses.. who would have thought..
That's not the Captain Jack I had expected to see.. ;D
Aaaand.. more blue! A lovely Andorian lady..
Apart from blue skin, crocheting seemed to have become another trend. The winner of the art contest: Potholder..
..and sweet little Daleks.
And speaking about Doctor Who.. This original sized Tardis (only from the outside of course.. although.. who knows.. I didn't have a look on the inside) decorated the stage in the main hall and several actors had to pose in front of it.
Among them, of course, Gareth David-Lloyd, Ianto himself.
On Saturday evening the costume contest took place. These Stormtroopers and Santa Wampa celebrated Christmas slightly earlier than the rest of us.
Another lady in blue.. Plavalaguna from the Fifth Element. She sang an aria - not sure if it was the one from the movie - and she sang it live! It was breathtakingly beautiful! She received two awards for her performance.. that has never happened before.
Oh my.. well, yeah.. what can I say.. this was the most hilarious performance! I almost fell off my chair laughing. :D The girls and guys(!!!) from Trekdinner Bonn dressed up as Sixes and Gaius Baltar, dancing around a toaster. Just great!!!
More Na'vi.. and Vader Abraham who obviously confused them with little smurfs. Though there is a resemblance, isn't there..!?!
Aah yes.. Benny as Wolverine. Unfortunately the rest of my Wolvie photos are blurred.. but let me tell you, he has an impressive body. O.O
And last but not least.. my LJ friends and me. :)
Me lovelies, click for bigger pics, please!
More to follow soon..
