From 'The Hobbit' publicist:

Sir Peter Jackson was admitted to Wellington Hospital on Wednesday night with acute stomach pains. He subsequently underwent surgery for a perforated ulcer. Sir Peter is currently resting comfortably and his doctors expect him to make a full recovery. Sir Peter’s surgery is not expected to impact on his directing ( Read more... )

Latest news say he's recovering well, but the start of the filming will be delayed. But that's okay, his health is a lot more important.

Ist ja kein Wunder, dass sowas mal passiert, bei all dem Stress den der Mann in den letzten Monaten wegen des Hobbit auszuhalten hatte.

Da ist schon ein bißen der Wurm drin. Hoffen wir, dass PJ schnell wieder fit wird, es dann endlich losgehen kann und dann auch alles glatt läuft *daumen drück*

Oh! My heart almost stopped when I read the first sentence too! I'm very glad he's okay though, and will make a full recovery. *breathes sigh of relief*

One could think The Hobbit is cursed.. O.o The last time I saw PJ in an interview was during the NZ actor's strike and he looked like a zombie, totally exhausted. The man needs a rest, but with all the upcoming projects that's impoosible. I hope all will end well..

Yup, some newspapers already speak of "The Curse of the Hobbit". That would make an interesting movie title..

According to the latest news he's recovering well. Thank goodness!

Awww! That can be a painful and dangerous thing. :( James Callis recently had appendicitis too, so it's been on my mind a lot.

It sounds like he's going to be fine though, if they're not stalling any plans. Modern medicine can work wonders. Don't worry. ;)

Yes. I'm glad that according to the latest news he's recovering well. :)
One could think The Hobbit is cursed. Almost everything that could go wrong did go wrong. The bankruptcy of MGM, the departure of Guillermo del Toro (the original director), the NZ actor's strike, now this.. it's unbelievable. PJ looked like a zombie in his latest interviews, I really hope they give him enough time for a full recovery.

Yes I know about James' appendicitis. That's indeed very painful. I had trouble with my appendix for many years and it had to be removed about five years ago. I'm glad to be rid of it. ;)
