Summary:
Yoochun opened his fridge. What he saw were some pickles in a jar and a piece of suspicious looking cheese.
“Well Yoochun, it’s time to do some shopping...” he sighed and went to his room to pick up his coat. It was autumn already and it was getting cold. Despite the fact that Yoochun hated cool weather he had some kind of sentiment for this season and it wasn’t only about the fact that he liked fallen, colourful leaves lying on the ground, but also about memories. He looked at his desk and saw what he was expecting to see. A beautiful black feather that was glistening with other colours in weak morning sunshine.
It was already fourteen years. When Yoochun was ten, his younger brother Yoohwan fell ill. He saw sad looks on his parents faces and despite his young age he knew that the illness was serious. He didn’t know whether his brother will live, but he hoped for it.
When he had time he was sitting by his brother’s bed telling him stories, reading books aloud and sometimes singing. There were also times that he fell asleep kneeling on the floor holding younger’s hand. And on one of such nights he woke up and saw a man standing beside him, staring at Yoohwan.
“Who are you?” Yoochun asked, but stranger didn’t answer and looked at him with eyes full of deep sorrow. “Please, don’t cry! If you want, I can hold your hand like this” the boy said and took stranger’s hand. It was smooth and cold.
“Aren’t you afraid of me?” the man asked with deep and velvety voice.
“Why should I?”
“Because I’m the god of death and sometimes people call me Black Angel” and to prove it he spread his black wings.
“They’re beautiful!” Yoochun said. “Your wings aren’t totally black. I can see blue and violet gleaming in the moon’s beams. And those colours are like hope. I’m Yoochun, this is my brother Yoohwan. And what is your name?”
“Jaejoong. I’m here to take your brother’s soul.” When he said that the spark in little boy’s eyes faded away.
“Can you please let him stay here? He’s still small and he does know nothing about the world. Take me instead.”
Jaejoong was astonished. He looked at Yoochun’s face and from his expression he could easily state that the boy was determined.
“Are you sure? You know that I can take your soul right away.”
“So do it!” he said and hid his face in sheets.
Jaejoong was looking at him for a while and then said:
“I won’t. I’m letting you live and experience life, but one day I’ll come back and take what you’ve promised me. I’m going now.”
“Wait! Please, stay with me... I... I’m afraid of darkness... Could you please hold my hand until I fall asleep?”
It seemed that Jaejoong couldn’t refuse. He nodded his head and took the boy’s hand. The warmness grew on him. He wanted to see how this boy will handle his life and that’s why he couldn’t take his soul right now. Not yet.
He was holding Yoochun’s hand till the end of the night and only then he disappeared.
When Yoochun woke up he thought that everything was a dream, but then he saw a black feather in his hand. He smiled and took it to his room to add it to his treasure box placed in the furthest corner under his bed.

Time was passing by and Yoohwan recovered. Doctors had said that it was a miracle, but only Yoochun knew how much this miracle will cost him. Of course he didn’t regret his decision. He loved his brother and he wouldn’t forgive himself if something had happened to him. Also he hoped that maybe he’ll see Jaejoong once more.
Every year on Yoochun’s birthday the first present he got was a black feather waiting for him on his desk. He knew that Jaejoong was reminding him about their promise, but he also hoped that maybe Jaejoong was coming simply to see him. He didn’t know why, but he really wanted to meet him again. Also he had to admit that he missed him. Maybe something more…

“Park Yoochun, snap out of it. You have to buy something to eat before your brother comes with his girlfriend” he said to himself and went out.
He took his bike and jumped on it. While he was riding down the road, he was thinking what he should buy for his always hungry brother. He was so immersed in his thoughts that he did not notice the elderly looking man that slipped and stumbled right before him. He was quick enough to turn left and avoid hitting him, but he didn’t avoid the truck coming his way. He felt sharp pain followed by thousands of images appearing in his mind reminding him of his past experiences…

What Yoochun saw next was a familiar face that made him smile. It was Jaejoong holding him tight in his arms.
“You didn’t know that those who are loved by gods die young?” Jaejoong said and smiled like he hadn’t done in years…
A/N: After a long vacation I finally managed to write something. It turned out to be an angsty story but I still hope you will like it. Feedback is very appreciated ^_^
