It is a real shame how veterans are treated in VA hospitals. You'd think they'd get better care.

what is sad is that to the soldiers they hype it as the best healthcare system and well when you see shit like this I have to beg to disagree.

If you know your Congressman or Senator (or even if you don't) you should drop a letter to them about the problems your Dad is having at the VA. That ain't right.

Docking you for attendence on a day when you were with your father in the hospital ain't right either. I personally think marking off for attendence in college is chickenshit on the part of the professor. You are paying to be there -- if you choose not to go, and get the required work product done (and done well without their egotastic lectures)then fuck them. You should not be penalized for not needing the lecture. Most schools have a process for challenging a grade -- if that 10 pts taken off for that absence makes the difference in a B+ to an A- then challenge it. Before you do -- tell the prof that you're going to do it -- they don't like having their grades challenged -- doesn't look good. Especially from GOOD students. You might be able to get it changed. Cuz that is total bullshit.

You know what's sad? That's actually really good care at a VA hospital. Anytime you want to be bored to death, I can tell you about the twenty years I spent growing up where my father was told every two years that he was going to die in the next two years. And the cancer. And various other exciting adventures. The problem is, they really can't always treat him. The VA won't accept outside diagnoses, and they don't always have the room to keep him. It sucks so hard.

See, my dad's a vet and I know he's been in the hospital for stuff, but he won't even tell me what - he's that stubborn. I worry about that slightly less because my stepmom's there to shove her foot up people's asses on his behalf.

I usually have skype up if you need to vent. If I'm there, I answer.
