A Resolution Between Shadows and Light

On fanfiction.net, I found a really great Anakin fanfiction called 'A Resolution Between Shadows and Light.' Anakin is very in character, and it's very angsty. Basically, in this fanfic Obi Wan chooses to save Anakin from completely burning on Mutsafar, and Padme survives the Force Choke. It's not finished, but it's still very well written. Here's ( Read more... )

Ohhhh my goodness yes, this one, I've read, re-read, re-re-read and quite simply *loved* this fic from allllll the long way back in the TF.n days - when it was an ongoing series in the Fic forum, with all of us eagerly hangin' on the author (Sakura') every post.... Many's the time I was in floods of tears reading through it, for sure - then and now! - and indeed, yeah, she absolutely *did* nail the characterization of *everyone* involved....but, of course, most of all Anakin in this instance, and Padme by extension, natchies. ;) :D It really is one o' the most fine-treasure fics out there, definitely worth adding to the personal library, for sure! :) *sighs delightedly*

IKR? It's too bad that the author never finished the fanfic. :( It was really good. I'm amazed out how in character Anakin was; it's rare that he is actually in character like he was in that fanfic. Not to mention how realistic it was because it dealt with both Anakin's physical injuries and immense guilt and remorse rather than having him heal right away.

Obi Wan was characterized good as well, although he seemed a bit more compassionate than he was in canon, because in this fanfic he saved Anakin rather than leaving him to burn.

*wistful, yearning sigh* Aaaahhh indeed, yes, and it is still one o' these fics which - I don't know if, at this point, like given just how much time has passed, whether Sakura may still be of much of a mind or inclination to continue with it....and hopefully even to finish it off at some point in the future, but even so I figure as we can still very much live and hope and think, aye, what if....what if indeed, because even just the masterful and quite simply brilliant AU envisioning she came up with there, well, I don't doubt as any way she chose to wrap it up would be equally, flawlessly, fabulously perfect....and, of course, also each and every bit in character for everyone involved. :) Her handle on Anakin - his mind, heart and soul, all - and Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, Padme and even (much as I shudder to think of it) Sidious, *ergh*....absolutely top-notch, then and now ( ... )

I thoroughly enjoyed that one. The author seems to be an Obi-Wan fan first and foremost but she obviously has enough of a soft spot for Anakin--kind of like Karen Miller in that way.

Agreed. Obi Wan and Anakin fans constantly seem to be against each other---they think if you like Anakin, you must hate Obi Wan, and vice versa. But with this author, that doesn't seem to be the case. She seems to like both characters, and depicts both characters accurately without demonizing either of them.
